The world premier of Pure: a bouldering flick by Chuck Fryberger will be showing at 8:00 PM tonight at the Boulder Theater. My girlfriend, Elizabeth and I will be headed there. To be honest I haven’t been watching much climbing porn lately so I just recently (as in right now) watched the trailer and I think after this evening I will be all caught up. As in true Mr. Fryberger fashion the cinematography is astounding. Rich colors, creative shots, stylish use of selective focus and it seems like this guy only shoots two hours a day; both golden hours. I have to say though, these are some of the same sentiments I had going into Specimen and even though I enjoyed the film and accepted the fact that Chuck was not focusing the films towards climbers and therefore lacked the in-your-face style of early climbing films I still felt it was missing some of the attention to detail (bumpy pans, jerky cranes, poor transitions etc.) that professional films have. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy the film. I absolutely loved it. But like any artist I am sure Chuck has perfected his style even more and that is why I am absolutely giddy about this flick! Stay tuned for the review. If you are head there hit me up on twitter and lets tweetup. (I am already regretting typing that)
