We finally did something we had been talking about doing since the night we arrived in Bishop; climbed The Checkerboard. This is only one of two problems in the Bishop Bouldering guide book that received 4 stars, I believe the other one is The Hulk. Ben, Tim, Dan, Chris and I all came VERY close to flashing the problem, all falling at the last move, which is about 15 feet off the deck. The problem is a beautiful overhanging face that test your crimp strength and ability to keep a clear head for a large last move. Ben sent first, followed by me then Dan. Dan and Tim, who both returned to Ventura at the end of the day, both had amazing sends throughout the trip and had a very successful first trip to Bishop. All pictures of The Checkerboard were taken by Elizabeth Grant.

Max also gave Stained Glass a couple more burns, both times making it to the last move. The last move is definitely the crux, which is a huge move off low feet and a bad crimp. Max does well with dynamic movement so hopefully he lock this one down

Later on in the afternoon we headed over to The Happies and had an end of the day Disco Diva session with Ben sending and Max and I both injuring ourselves. Max ripped two HUGE flappers on the jug you dyno to and I strained my tendon pulling on a pocket with two fingers, as opposed to 3, like I should have been. I am resting for half of the day today and hoping that if I tape my finger heavily I will still be able to climb this afternoon. If not it might be the end of the trip for me. Lets hope otherwise
