You never really notice how much you talk to people until you go multiple days without a conversation. Today was the first day in about 4 days that I had a real conversation with someone, aside from your every day pleasantries you are bound to have with strangers. My friend Jessica Wunderlich, who I attend Brooks Institute of Photography with, was in Boulder today and by happenstance I just so happened to text message her. She happened to be on Pearl St., only a couple of blocks away from my house, so we promptly met up, had a bite to eat and I accompanied her while she did a little shoe shopping. It felt really good to be able to talk to someone who actually knows how I am and a bit about my history and is more then willing to listen to my recent adventures and counter with a good amount of her own. This leads me into my next discovery; I really have depended on my closest friends for an insane amount of support and guidance over the years. I have always known that I have a really strong support system but I am not sure I actually realized how important this was to my day to day survival and how much I utilized those friends. Being by myself has forced me to find new ways to cope with issues and creative ways to bout boredom, which for me also leads to depression. I have found that when I don’t keep myself busy, I get really down in the dumps and at times feel sorry for myself, which is totally polar to my personality. I think being upbeat, healthy and active suits me much better. Even going for a short stroll to the store or walk through this amazing town is so therapeutic for me. Lets not forget that there is bouldering 13 minutes from my door! I am sure that this discovery is nothing new to a lot of you so any input you have on how to keep myself occupied would be more then welcome! On a side note, I will be leaving for Bishop on Wednesday so check the blog because I will be making updates with pictures and possibly some video while I am there.
